CLEVELAND, OHIO – In the lead up to America’s 250th anniversary, Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court Administrative Judge Diane M. Palos is pleased to announce the Court is inviting the community to participate in the Time Capsule Semiquincentennial Commemoration Project, funded through a grant by the America 250-Ohio Commission.

The project will commemorate the importance of the Ohio judiciary and celebrate the anniversary of our Founding Fathers adopting the Declaration of Independence. As part of Ohio’s Semiquincentennial celebration, Domestic Relations Court will fill a time capsule with letters from current Ohio courts to future courts, photographs of Ohio historic courthouses, memorabilia reflective of the history and impact of the Ohio judiciary, and items that represent life today. Community members are invited to submit a digital note through the Court’s website https://domestic.cuyahogacounty.gov/ about aspirations for Ohio and America’s future for possible inclusion in the time capsule. Community members can also email suggestions of what they would like to see placed in the time capsule to dramerica250project@cuyahogacounty.gov.

“Our goal is to engage with the community and highlight the importance of the Ohio judiciary as we approach America’s 250th Anniversary,” Judge Palos explained.

The new time capsule will be sealed during a ceremony to be held in May and remain closed until the next generation of Domestic Relations Court judges open it during the nation’s 500th birthday year in 2276.

“The Cuyahoga County Domestic Relations Court is honored to have been selected for a Trillium Local Activity Grant, allowing us to develop a meaningful project rooted in Ohio’s rich judicial history and looking forward to its future,” concluded Judge Palos.
