Parenting Coordination
Parenting coordination, per Rule 38, is a child-focused alternative dispute resolution process in which a mental health or legal professional with mediation training and experience with families and children assists high conflict parents to implement their parenting plan. The parenting coordinator facilitates the resolution of parenting disputes in a timely manner, educates parents about children’s needs, and makes decisions within the scope of the appointment and court order.
The Parenting Coordination program maintains a list of trained individuals who are appointed as parenting coordinators. The department monitors qualification and processes appointments.
